Breaker Hill WIND FARM

Community benefits

The Breaker Hill Wind Farm has the potential to bring numerous benefits to the local community including:
  • Increased demand for local goods and services during the feasibility and construction phases of development
  • Creation of a Community Trust Fund to support community activities and developments in the nearby area - based on a 15 turbine,  19.5MW wind farm the fund would have a value of £29,250 per annum for the life time of the development
  • Favourable reputation as a leader in the fight against climate change

Trust funds controlled by local people

The majority of our wind farms in the UK have a trust fund put in place before the wind farm begins producing electricity.

Funds are created to provide an opportunity to support local projects identified by local people.  Each trust fund receives an annual income over the lifespan of the wind farm with decisions on spending made by the local community.

The funds that Wind Prospect has previously set up are being administered by various local organisations such as:

  • community councils
  • local charities
  • community groups

Please download the below brochure for examples of how Trust Fund monies have been spent.
